Fishing rules and regulations

  • All persons angling aged 13 years and older must hold a current, valid rod licence and be able to provide proof of this when asked by a water bailiff
  • Under 16s fish free, but children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult
  • No night fishing allowed. Fishing only permitted from dawn till dusk or until park closing times
  • A maximum of two rods per angler
  • No barbed hooks, spinners, lures, plugs, spoons, jigs, braided line, live bait, barbed treble hooks. Circle hooks only for dead baiting
  • No wading, no swimming, no inflatables permitted
  • Only 1 kilo of bait per session per angler is permitted
  • Only approved keep and landing nets may be used; carp and other fish larger than 5lb cannot be kept in a keep net
  • Please note a keep net ban is in force from midnight April 30th until midnight June 15th
  • Nets should be dried properly before use
  • You must have a landing net and an unhooking mat for larger fish
  • All fish must be returned to the water
  • No magnet fishing of any kind
  • Strictly no firearms, unauthorised fires or illegal stocking of fish will be allowed
  • No vehicles allowed around the pond without prior permission
  • All persons are requested to respect all wildlife and report any incidents to a member of staff or call the Council Call Centre on 300 300

Leave the area clean and tidy and dispose of any litter carefully.

Any person found to be in breach of any of the above may be asked to leave the fishery.

The pond at Oak Road Playing Fields is not managed by Hull City Council but by Hull and District Angling Association.
